Preparing for Thanksgiving
For most people, the holiday season is a time of giving, and many people start their holiday giving by serving a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. There are quite a few ways to keep costs down, and as usual, the most important is to plan ahead. Plan your menu as early as possible. That way, you can do all of your shopping with time to scout out the best prices.
Use coupons for your holiday dinner purchases. Make it a potluck dinner and know in advance what everyone is bringing. Don’t buy unnecessary items. If you need extra chairs, dishes, etc. borrow from friends. Play the waiting game. If you’re having turkey, wait to buy it as long as you can. Stores tend to mark the cost down the closer it gets to Thanksgiving.
Hosting Thanksgiving dinner can be a lot of fun, but you still need to pay attention to the economic side of it, otherwise your wonderful dinner could leave you wondering where all your money went.
